Jim Codington, DVM
Dr. Codington graduated from UC Davis' School of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. He established The Country Vet in 1981, which back then, meant working out of his home. In the early 90's, he needed a bit more space, so his home was converted into the clinic as you know it today.
Jim is a firm believer in holistic medicine. He practices a number of alternative therapies such as Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, & Homeopathy. One of Jim's professional interests is alternative treatments for pets with cancer.
Whenever possible, Jim prefers to spend his spare time outside doing one or more of the following activities; nature photography, mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, camping, travelling, reading, camping, scuba diving or skiing.
For those of you who have visited our clinic, no doubt you've met Jim's border collie 'Josie'. We're sad to report Josie's passing on January 14th, 2010. Josie was Jim's shadow, following him everywhere he went, including work. She was such a unique girl, loved by all and will be missed. Peace be with you Josie.
Jim has 7 cats, 3 of which live at home with him; Poncho, Chica and Sassy and the other 4 live with us here at the clinic; Chester, Tiger, Bean and Sunny.
Nick Morphopoulos, DVM.jpg)
Dr. Morphopoulos (a.k.a. "Dr. Nick") finished veterinary school at UC Davis in 1993. After graduating, he interned at University of Pennsylvania for 1 year specializing in small animal medicine and surgery. In early 1994, Dr. Nick joined The Country Vet team. Nick enjoys challenges in internal medicine and treating those nasty recurrent ear infections.
What you may not know about Nick is he is an avid motocrosser and mountain biker. When he's not in the hills on either of his bikes, he's probably kite surfing on the coast or skiing in the Sierra's. We'll never forget The Country Vet ski trip a few years ago - we all arrived at the top of the hill together, looked at each other and said, "Let's go!" Before we could even push off the snow, Nick was halfway down the hill. We joke about how he had jets strapped to his ski's!
Nick has at home a sweet standard poodle named "Marcello" and a calico kitty named "Fanny" who he claims is the fluffiest kitty to have ever walked the face of the earth.
Kelley McNair, DVM
Dr. McNair (a.k.a. "Dr. Kelley") completed her veterinary training at UC Davis in 1998. She joined The Country Vet team that same year. Kelley grew up here in Novato where she resides today.
Kelley has 2 sweet golden retrievers, 'Jordyn' & 'Camden'. 'Jordyn' comes to work with her everyday (always with a toy in his mouth). In fact, he won't leave the house until he's found that perfect toy to carry to work with him. The two of them are quite the duo when it comes to their agility training which they have been doing together since 2003.
When Kelley isn't weaving poles and winning ribbons with Jordyn (and Camden), she enjoys dirt biking (sometimes with Dr. Nick), camping, boating and hiking.
In addition to Jordyn, Kelley has a cat at home named "Jaycey", a chinchilla named "MinChin" and 2 horses named "Kodi" and "Tommy".
Kathleen Danielson, DVM
Dr. Danielson (a.k.a. "Dr. Kat") graduated from UC Davis in 2005. After graduating, she began her veterinary career at a specialty practice in Modesto, CA. Kat, like Dr. Kelly, is also a local girl. She decided to leave Modesto and move closer to home (lucky for us) and joined The Country Vet in 2006.
Kat has 2 dogs at home "Robby" & "Kunna". In addition to her 2 dogs, cat also shares her home with her 3 cats, "Jeffrette", "Kinky" & "Monty". Kat enjoys reading, collecting antiques, and roaming the hills of Marin with her canine companions.
